Account: Managing Your Account
Everything about your Video Tap account: changing your info, deleting your account, logging in, and exporting your data.
Logging In
Section titled “Logging In”Video Tap supports two login methods:
- Email and password: Use the email you registered with and your chosen password.
- Google login: Click “Sign in with Google” and use the same Google account you originally registered with.
If you signed up with Google, you don’t have a separate Video Tap password unless you explicitly set one.
Can’t Log In?
Section titled “Can’t Log In?”- Forgot your password? Click “Forgot your password?” on the login page to receive a reset link.
- Google login not working? Make sure you’re using the same Google account you registered with. If you have multiple Google accounts, try each one.
- “Email not found” error? You might have registered with a different email address. Check your inbox for the original Video Tap welcome email to confirm which email you used.
Changing Your Email Address
Section titled “Changing Your Email Address”To change the email associated with your account, contact support (through support@videotap.com or site widget) with your current email and the new email you’d like to use. We’ll update it on our end.
Changing Your Password
Section titled “Changing Your Password”If you registered with email and password:
- Go to the login page
- Click “Forgot your password?”
- Enter your email address
- Follow the link in the reset email to set a new password
If you signed up with Google login, you don’t have a Video Tap password. Your login is tied to your Google account credentials.
Deleting Your Account
Section titled “Deleting Your Account”You can delete your account through the self-serve option:
- Click your avatar (profile picture) in the top-right corner
- Click Profile
- Scroll down to “Delete Account”
- Confirm the deletion
This permanently removes your account and all associated data, including: videos, clips, blog posts, transcripts, social content, and settings. This action cannot be undone.
”I Can’t Find the Delete Button” or “It Asks for a Password I Don’t Have”
Section titled “”I Can’t Find the Delete Button” or “It Asks for a Password I Don’t Have””If you signed up with Google login, the self-serve deletion may require a password you never set. In this case, contact support with your account email and we’ll handle the deletion for you.
Cancellation vs Deletion
Section titled “Cancellation vs Deletion”These are different things:
- Canceling your subscription stops future billing but keeps your account and content intact. You can still log in and access everything you’ve already created.
- Deleting your account permanently removes everything - your account, all videos, all generated content. There’s no way to recover it.
If you just want to stop paying, cancel your subscription (see Billing: Cancellation and Refunds). Only delete your account if you want everything gone.
Exporting Your Data
Section titled “Exporting Your Data”Before canceling or deleting, you may want to download your content:
- Clips: Download rendered clip videos from each clip’s editor (Download button)
- Transcripts: Download SRT, VTT, or plain text files from the Transcriptions section of each video
- Blog posts: Copy the text from the blog post editor
Each video’s content is downloaded from that video’s own page.
Managing Your Account for Someone Else
Section titled “Managing Your Account for Someone Else”If an employee has left your company and you need to manage their Video Tap account (cancel subscription, request a receipt, etc.):
- Contact support from a company email address
- Include the account holder’s email and your relationship to the account
- Let us know what you need (cancellation, receipt, data export, etc.)
We’ll verify the request and handle it from there.
